Jesus for Life

How can I be sure I'm saved?

The Bible teaches us that salvation is something that is given by God freely to any person who places their trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.

The Bible teaches us that our salvation is by God's grace to us through faith alone, without any requirement for merit on our part, and without any requirement for works of righteousness on our part.

Nowhere in the Bible is there any reference to the need for us to do anything to receive God's gift of eternal life other than to believe and have faith! Because we are children of God, of course our lives will reflect our relationship with our Creator. James 2:26 tells us about this: "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead". This is, as it were, the proof of our salvation. But most certainly NOT the cause of our salvation.

..........................

Can we trust God's word?

If we can not trust God's word, who else can we trust?

We have no one else to turn to confidently!

As Simon Peter said to Jesus:  "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have  the words of eternal life. We believe and we are sure that you are the   Christ, the Son of the living God."

John 6:68-69 (Translated directly from the NT Greek)

Read here some of God's promises to us about the certainty of our salvation when we turn to Him and repent .....

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (NIV)

Jesus said to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

John 11:25-26 (NIV)

All the prophets testify about Jesus that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

Acts 10:43 (NIV)

In Jesus we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

Unlike the other high priests, Jesus does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

Hebrews 7:27 (NIV)

Jesus did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

Hebrews 9:12 (NIV)

But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.

Hebrews 10:12 (NIV)

... because by one sacrifice Jesus has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

"This is the covenant I will make with them

after that time, says the Lord.

I will put my laws in their hearts,

and I will write them on their minds."

Hebrews 10:14-16 (NIV)

… and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade — kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:4-5 (NIV)

Jesus said …. "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

John 5:24 (NIV)

Jesus said …. “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.”

John 6:47 (NIV)

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
John 20:30-31 (NIV)

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 5:13 (NIV)

for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.

Romans 11:29 (NIV)

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Romans 5:6-10 (NIV)

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins........But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions  —  it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:1, 4-7(NIV)

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

Colossians 2:13 (NIV)

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession — to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14 (NIV)

Jesus said…..

"Do not let your hearts be troubled.

Trust in God; trust also in me.

In my Father's house are many rooms;

if it were not so, I would have told you.

I am going there to prepare a place for you.”

John 14:1-2 (NIV)
